Hi, I’m using XP prof. When looking at platforms that Avast support, it says it does XP (no server). Could someone tell me what the no server bit means exactly.
Cheers from Chrissie
No Server OSes, but I don’t know why there is that distinction as XP doesn’t have a server version, exactly where did you see that ?
I use XP Pro SP3 and there is no problem as it isn’t a server OS.
Thanks so much for the reply. It just mentions it when it says which platforms it covers. It only mentions (no server) on XP, 2000 and NT. It didn’t mention it on Win 95, 98 or win me, which is why I thought there may be a problem. I’m not sure what a server version is.

Thanks again, Chrissie.
I saw the same thing on avast.com, in the full technical description of avast home and pro (at the bottom of the page).

No problem, glad I could help.
The avast.com.au domain as far as I’m aware isn’t an official site by Alwil Software but by an authorised Australian Distributor, whilst it is a direct crib from the main avast.com site as mevcit’s link indicates, it really isn’t totally accurate as XP doesn’t have a server version.
