VBS:Malware-gen A MESS, DELETED SYSTEM FILES DURING AVAST RECOMMENDED BOOT SCAN

What a mess.

After the virus warnings kept popping up, I ran a full-system scan twice. Files were transferred to the Virus Chest
and some files were deleted.

Then Avast recommended a boot scan and came up with many infected files.
Those “infected files” were sent to the Virus Chest, and some were deleted.
These were Windows System Files. The actions taken were automatic.

What’s the solution to the deleted Windows System Files ?

Are the files gone? Can they be restored? Is Avast taking responsibility?

How can files that are in the Virus Chest be restored?

All this work. Please help

The little bug with Avast just completely destroyed my Windows 10. It deleted pretty much every Microsoft file it found on my computer. It even deleted some of its own files during the bootscan.

I went to bed last night thinking to myself that it had to be a mistake, that there was no way my computer went from no infection to the entire thing infected when I hadn’t even downloaded anything recently. But every page on Chrome was giving me a Threat Blocked, Threat Detected warning about the VBS Malware.

I ran Malwarebytes and got nothing, I should have trusted it but I trusted Avast when it told me I was infected and to run a boottime. My computer was STILL sitting in the boottime scan when I got up this morning. Now I can’t run Windows. Thanks a lot. How is this going to get fixed??

You could try system restore:

Windows 10 managed to repair itself after I finally got it to go into the option after restarting it about a dozen times and having to leave it doing its “Attempting to repair” for like 15 minutes. At least it managed the repair. I was a little bit pissed off thinking about the fact I haven’t backed up my videos and pictures of my kids recently.

Same thing happened to me as OP, but I’m running Win 7 Pro and I only ran the full boot scan once, after it found a bunch a files running full scan. it deleted some files and put about 90 files in the chest.

My system still runs, it only screwed up one program that I am aware of, so far. I still have a bunch of files in the chest. some of the actions say that its going to delete some files on reboot. WTF am I supposed to do? Why is Avast not taking responsibility for this or telling customers how to handle this?

If I reboot my computer and it does not boot I am out of business.

I’ve never had a virus affect my computer before, now, my paid version of Avast has caused me more damage to my computer than I’ve ever had from an virus.
