I found another thread on this topic reporting a false positive for the VBS: Malware-gen by Avast!. But I’m coming at it from another angle since I am the author of the website being blocked. Both my websites are over at Tripod.com and they are being blocked by Avast as it reported this malaware being the reason. I first noticed this happening yesterday when I tried to go to my website to add information to the page. I’ve had these websites up at Tripod for years with no problem. I even got a green check from McAfee Site Advisor for both sites. But today, I not only got the vbs:malware-gen alert but am being blocked from going to the websites at all which also means that anyone with Avast is also being blocked from going to my 2 websites. What do I do about this?
Thank you Pondus for checking that out. I did report it to Avast already shortly after I created this thread. And also, I found another thread that said that this malaware warning from Avast! about Tripod.com has been going on since April 22nd, 2013. Shortly afterwards, I went back to both my websites and the Avast warning went away and I was able to view both sites once again so maybe Avast did a fix. But weird what you discovered from www.urlvoid.com. Bummer. A few years back, I moved both my websites over to Tripod.com. I used to have them hosted by Freeservers.com but, security software kept reporting problems at Freeservers so I moved them to Tripod. Nothing I can do about the spanhaus so, I’ll have to wait and see what’s next. Thank you again.
