VBS:Trojano-436[Tr]
But I cant find any nfo on it, pc running win98 , K-Meleon browser, Avast 4.5reported it, AVG didnt find it. It was in K-Meleon cache, I deleted the file when it was reported. I already asked in alt.comp.anti-virus and was told what I already knew- K-Meleon didn`t execute VBScript.
But the nfo I`am looking for is where and how did the trojan get thur/in my pc- being in the cache seems to tell me it was via a website-html?
Google gave me no nfo on this trojan.
You probably got it through a web-page.
You coulg get more info on it if you had submited the file to Jotti (http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/) before you deleted it.
Virus names are not standard and often are different from one AV program to another, this is possibly why you didn’t find anything with google. However, you can see what it is called by other companies by checking Here this is worth bookmarking for your future use.
I use firefox as my main browser with Avant as my secondary browser and only use IE when absolutely nothing else will work on a website (very rare).
I think that because IE is an integral part of the OS any exploit of the IE browser has the potential to fully access your OS. Whilst there are IE based browsers that are able to additional security, they still rely on the IE base. That is why I switched to firefox.
Avant browser is just a frontend for IE and comes with all the holes IE has, thus its just as unsecure. I have FireFox and Opera and yet still like K-Meleon better , guess it comes down to personal preferences.
I`am now looking to do the switch to Linux, but which flavor to pick?
GAG is a very good (the better I’ll say) dual boot program…
Feel free to ask any other question about avast or GAG (by IM if you want…)
