Hello everyone,

  • Clicking Scan Details in the Notification Center no longer starts another scan

Just update via GUI and about to restart pc…
Update: Avast GUI opening speed not changed and still slow… ??? :frowning:
Can not find “Quick Scan” Tab on gui where to find avast team?

You can’t, it’s gone.

What??? :frowning: >:(

More here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=211684.0

Thanks@Asyn.
Bad move by Avast… >:(

You’re welcome.

GUI will be faster in January, Quick scan can be configured in custom scans. We selected the most used Scans that are Smart Scan (that is quick) and Full system scan (that is slow but detailed)

Ok.

Thank you for the new release

So, on the subject of Quick Scan being gone… I’m still on 17.8.2318, but somehow my GUI has updated already–I have a “Core Shields” section and no longer have access to Quick Scans.

However, I had a regularly scheduled Quick Scan, and that still runs (I saw it do so yesterday). I’m not able to remove it from the schedule, obviously, because there’s no more Quick Scans schedule to access. It doesn’t appear in the new “Custom Scans” section. How do I fix this? Am I going to have to completely uninstall and reinstall Avast to get rid of it? I’m really not happy about this.

Thank you for the new release.
I hope you can also put update logs of the new version for AVG.

Congratulations, you just released a new version with ENTIRELY broken tray icon animation which doesn’t animate anymore at all. Not that we warned about the bug pretty much on day one of the very first beta or anything…

Tray icon timeline:

  • Version 17 released, tray animation re-introduced, but was glitching out
  • Took more than half a year to get a fix for it
  • Gets absolutely and entirely broken 3 months after the last fix

Have I missed anything? What the hell are you people doing? Seriously.

Also, what’s up with the arrangement of icons under “Protection” tab? Why are they arranged vertically instead of horizontally and why are they all messed up as far as order goes?

They should go in order of relevance:
Core Shields, Scans, Virus Chest, Sandbox, Ransomware Shield, Firewall and Real Site

Not the current totally random mess of pad locked icons all mixed up together with other ones, antivirus ones being mixed with everything else… The GUI is constantly riddled with such idiocies. And if it was just once such example, whatever, but it’s everywhere on all ends, all the time, making it look like no one even cared where anything is placed. This crap has been around for ages and I keep complaining over it and no F is given. C’mon, all it takes is 5 minutes of work required to have a professional looking, clean interface that oozes placement, predictability and refinement. But nope. ::slight_smile:

Just updated here via the GUI. It looks like it’s working normally, except one thing.
It’s just here that the Avast icon in the task bar doesn’t move anymore when it’s scanning something? It’s still checked in settings to animate, but it looks like it doesn’t work anymore.

The UI interface being super slow to load in icons when first open up the main windows is still happen… 5 months later

This version is bad joke. 17.8 was good but this is like unfinished beta with no benefits over previous version. I still have feeling you must release one new version per month for some reason. What about work on new version longer time and prefer quality over quantity? Still missing statistics btw.

There are some bugs:

1.Outlook 2010: Mail shield no longer scan inserted files to mail (“Scan attachment when attaching” enabled). It scan and block this attachment after i hit send button (Version 17.8 and earlier blocks file immediately). Probalby bug or new feature?

2.Smart scan no longer scan for sensitive data and compatibilty issues even those are checked in options.

3.Self defence not working? In previous version, if i used CCleaner registry cleaner for search problems, it creates some track on selfdef.log (blocked access to Avast registry keys). But now is selfdef.log empty.

4.Full system scan uses only one CPU core.

5.Second AvastUI.exe which is launched after long time from PC start causes minimalize all opened Full screen programs like Games, video players etc.

So i am not sure if i am still protected or not because there are too much bugs.

All tested on 2 independent systems with the same behaviour. Both Win 7 64 bit, Avast Free clean install.

I’m waiting for an explanation from Avast team. Thank you.

Best Birthday Gift ever  Thanks avast team!

They broke it with very first beta release. We’ve reported it the same day. They never bothered to fix it despite complaining about it every single bloody beta version during the test cycle. I just can’t even…

Well, this is not OK!:

Why is this thing suddenly popping up in the middle of my screen, without me having clicked on anything?
