Can users of the free Avast 4 Home upgrade to version 4.1 or is it only available to the paid for version users?

By all means!!! The latest version is 4.1.268 which you can obtain either by direct download from www.avast.com, or if you have 4.1 installed, then go to the A ball in the tray and right click. Follow the link to Update… Program then click it. 4.1.268 will be downloaded and installed for you!

You don’t even have to have 4.1 installed… just start the program update and your avast 4 Home will be updated to avast 4. 1 (Home).
