Vibrant Media Intellitxt ads are sooooooo irritating!

Hi adware fighters,

Remove Vibrant Media Intellitxt

Since Intellitxt does not run on an individual’s computer but rather on the web site itself, there is nothing to uninstall to remove it. The only way to not see these links would be to stop visiting sites using Intellitxt advertising technology. However Intellitxt does offer an optional HTML tag for site owners to allow visitors to their sites to turn Intellitxt ads on or off.
This scumware, see: http://www.scumware.com/apps/scumware.php/action::view_article/article_id::1088567305/topic::Scumware,-Spyware,-Adware-&-Malware-Applications/
may cause you to choose an alternate browser. On the other hand the ads support free info, only if it was not that irritating when you hoover the mouse over.
The way to do it for IE is to modify the hosts file go to start - run - type “c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc” then open the hosts file with notepad and add the following text (starting with #[Vibrant media] ) to the end of the file and hit Ctrl+S to save and make sure the browser is restarted.

create “hosts” file with the most common intellitxt sites and block them.

This really can speedup popular sites quitte a bit. (doesn’t have to wait for the intellitxt server(s) to finish.)

In FF I do not see this, on IE for instance it is soooooo irritating. Is there another solution than the host file adaptation?
In FF you can block this in the way described in this link:
http://grahamb.wordpress.com/2006/11/21/removing-intellitxt-ads-using-adblock/

I can understand the webmaster that wants the deal with Vibrant, but I also want a possibility to live and surf without it…
Test if you have the localized adware on your box: http://www.whirlywiryweb.com/q/ezulasurf.asp

Thanks Damian.

I must admit that I hadn’t come across these intelitxt.com ads but using firefox with noscript and adblock plus ABP (some default blocks may have helped), but it took only seconds to put in the 3 domains with wildcards in the ABP.

I also have never liked that Intellitext junk.

Thanks for the info, Polonus! :slight_smile:
