Video downloader not working (as usual)

So it’s become more or less the standard it seems that the video downloader will only work for a short while after an update and then stop working all of a sudden…
What’s up with the browser? In recent months it’s been very unstable and it seems the crew doesn’t get it fixed soon enough? Sure it’s a free product, but still…

I get the following error in extensions/video downloder info:
Unrecognized manifest key ‘dataKeys’.
“dataKeys”: [ “VDLData” ],

e[33mWARNING:e[0m ytdl-core is out of date! Update with “npm install ytdl-core@latest”.
Error in event handler: Error: Attempting to use a disconnected port object

How to fix this?
Come on Avast, get your crew together and get back to a stable browser already…

Hi, please could you check if you have video downloader still installed? Go to Extensions page, enable dev mode to see it.

If it is installed and enabled, then I think the problem could be on YouTube. We know about the YouTube issue and is being investigated by our team. Unfortunately websites changes from time to time and VD stops working because of it.

Thank you for the answer!

Yes, it is enabled in the extensions page, but there is a red text button saying “error” next to the info button and the information given there is the one I mentioned in the first post.

I have Avast Video Downloader 2.5.143
It stopped working for me a couple of days ago after the last Avast Secure Browser update. The error messages it returns are:

Unrecognized manifest key ‘dataKeys’.
Highlighted code: Line 23

and

Error in event handler: Error: Attempting to use a disconnected port object
Highlighted code: Line 11

Mine is a paid version of Avast using Avast Secure Browser, Program Version: 21.3.2459 (build 21.3.6164.665)

YouTube is a total problem, not only does the Video Downloader no longer work, but neither does the Ad Blocker (not just for YouTube but for any site I visit now).

Saw one other poster suggest you broaden your Video Downloader to include other Video streaming sites like Rumble, Bitchute, etc. I’d like to add my vote to that, YouTube’s ridiculous video blocking policies are a real pain.

What’s the browser version? not the Avast software.
Here’s the version I’m using, and the Downloader works.

See if this helps, https://youtu.be/MWnHRin2bho

Avast Secure Browser is up to date
Version 90.1.9508.213 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I’ve seen that video, it doesn’t apply to my problem, my Video Downloader is turned on.

Current error messages:

Unrecognized manifest key ‘dataKeys’. Line 23

Error in event handler: Error: Attempting to use a disconnected port object Line 11

@pax1
I’ve reported this to Avast. Let’s see if that helps resolve the errors.

Could you please explore expanding your Video Downloader to download from other sites like Rumble and Bitchute? At present, I still have no Download button for YouTube. It was working fine until your last update. It’s up to date, installed and turned on. Particulars in other posts this thread.

Thank you.

Here was my problem,

My first reply from an Avast developer is:
“Issue is known and under investigation for youtube.com website.”
