I replaced the TM with x’s. the while accessing a website, eugenevictordebs web page, and avast came up with the warning, and detection, I did what it said, add to virus chest, so thats what i did. I scanned and it’s an infected file, and the name of the virus/malware is titled (with the TM removed) - HxxL:Iframe-inf
Should I delete this from the virus chest and off the computer, or should i keep it in the virus chest?
Thanks
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
However, in this particular case I don’t feel there is any point in waiting, but the above is the standard practice to avoid hasty deletions of what may be important files incorrectely detected.
So if I delete its not deletin from just the “chest” but from the entire computer right? or am i just deleting it from the chest and letting it run wild on my computer?
It only exists in the chest where it was sent, so when deleted that is it, it no longer exists.
Welcome to the forums, oddpif.
Think about this … why would a good av like avast allow you to delete malware from quarantine (the chest) only to let it run wild on your computer?
That would certainly not be a good thing for your computer, avast’s reputation, and not a logical thing to do.
