Virus chest

Hi, i just recently installed avast and there were infected files… One of the files happened to be a file to connect to the internet, i want to restore it but cant find where the virus chest is located??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

GUI - Maintenance

Is there a folder though? Nothin is coming up when i load up the virus chest under maintenance

Well, then the chest is empty.
If you deleted your findings, they’re not in the chest and can’t be restored.

There is a folder, C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\DATA\chest, but it won’t help you. It is a protected area and from the outside (e.g. viewing in explorer) the file name would be changed and the contents encrypted. Plus if you have opened the Virus Chest from the Maintenance section and nothing shows, it isn’t in the chest.

What scan were you doing when the alert happened or was it the real time shield that alerted (either the file system shield or web shield) ?

What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?

System restore should be able to help you get back your lost file.
