virus definitions and program won't update

I got message to renew my free registration, tried to do it but after trying to retrieve information it stops
So filled out for, got key and updated registration that way and it worked
I then noticed that my desktop definitions and program were out of date so tried updating both. They start to update then get error message “Not enough storage is available to process this command”.
I have plenty of room on my hard drive.
Running XP with all service packs and updates for XP are completely up to date.
AVAST
definition version is 150914-0 with release date of 9/14/15
program version 7.0.1506
evidently even tho I am on auto update it has been unable to update for awhile
I tried going into add/remove programs, change, repair, and it could not finish the process… said use full version (I think)
This is a diffenent laptop than in my previos post

Guess you didn’t read the fixes that are in the beta when it comes to XP.

Eddy and be secure

What is the final answer for correct version for XP?

thx

You can try Beta version or stable version,It is your choose :)Make a clean install.

XP is still supported in 11.1.2241, the latest regular avast release, but you really need to be on XP SP3.

As you can see from my signature (below posts) I’m currently using avast 11.1.2244, a beta version in testing on this XP Pro SP3

Update to the latest version (2016.11.1.2245): https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=179855.0

Essentially, I’m having problems with Avast Free actually blocking my internet connection. I had to disable Avast for the updates (program and definitions) to update. Rebooted and I still have to disable Avast to access the internet. Windows XP SP3. Avast program version 11.1.2245, definition version 151202-1.

Since avast free doesn’t have a firewall, it shouldn’t be blocking, more likely option would be something blocking avast (the avastSvc.exe). You would need to make an exclusion in your firewall to allow avast access.

If you need further help over what is suggested, which I would say you need. This should be in its own topic, as this one is unrelated to your issue (hijacking).
