virus definitions not accurately showing current status

My summary page avast 6.0.1000 is showing my virus definitions are out of date, but when I update,it says already up to-date
and my system is fully protected.
Is there any way to get virus definition version indicator to accurately show the current status/version?

This happened in another version and there was a way to reset the program to get the above in sync, but I forget how to do it.

Try a reboot.

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual virus definitions version. You may need to reboot after the repair.
