Virus destroyed all my doc,jpeg,mpeg,mp3

:cry: Yesterday, when I turned on my PC I saw that allthough the files doc,mpeg,jpeg,mp3 existed they contained 0 bytes and about 15 Gb space from my hard disk were free! The gif and pdf files were not infected. Is it a virus? Avast did not find anything. Do you know if there is a virus acting like that and if I can retrieve my files?

Furthermore, today I received a warning e-mail saying that worm.somefool.gen-1 was sent by me to someone I did not know! Is this related to the above?

I found it. It is named w32.mywife.a@mm or w32.blackmal.b@mm

Hi,
imho neither of those variants are responsible for deletion of your files
Sounds more like MYdoom.F or similar to me
Was avast resident shield always running, with uptodate VPS ?

can you open any of the above file types at all, if you make a new DOC or JPEG-fiel and try to open it ?
