Virus detected????

I was surfing and click on a link at a “Yahoo” search page that “McAfee Site Advisor” said was clean. I got a pop up with siren and all; saying a virus had been detected. Does this mean I have a virus or did “AVAST” stop the infection before it got in?
Just want to make sure.
Thanking you ahead in this matter,
iddawg.

Yes. You were protected by WebShield.
You can’t rely on Site Advisor nowadays. It misses a lot of infected sites.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure.
I realize that Site Adivsor is not a sure thing. But it’s the only thing out there that I know of that gives ratings on sites.
Thanks.
If you know of another program that does the above and does it better please let me know.
Thanking you ahead in this matter,

If you use firefox, there is a add on called WOT.It is similar to site advisor but has a larger community.
You can download it here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3456

  1. Thanks.
I did not realize that Fire Fox had a add on for it.
I going to download it and get it set up.
    Again thanks,
