Hi. Decided to run a online scan by mcafee and it detedted a virus on my computer. Though maybe could be a false positive so tested with house scan as well and same virus detected. Avast did not detect it so i was wondering whether there was a e-mail address i could send the virus file to avast so they can add it to their definitions?
Cheers
Col
Send an email to any of these addresses:
virus (at) avast.com
vlk (at) avast.com
rypacek (at) asw.cz
Or upload to the any of these anonymous ftp servers:
ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming
ftp://www2.asw.cz/incoming
If you can post more info about the file or the virus it will be good 8)
well, the virus is somewhere within a zip file named
javainstaller.jar-3c936701-66036217.zip
it is in the directory
C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar
There is also a file named
javainstaller.jar-3c936701-66036217.idx
in the same folder as the virus file.
Cant remember exactly what the virus was called now. I will try and find out.
Windows XP +SP2
Zone Alarm Pro

Did you do a complete thorough scan with avast with ARCHIVE scanning enabled ??
(the avast standard-Shield by default doesn’t scan archives)
also you want to secure your browser a bit better; see “VirusRemoval” below in my sig

Avast is set to scan archive files so it should have been scanned. I will have a look at your links.
