I received 17 virus warnings from a site and aborted the connection.(web shield told me )
BUT i ran bitdefender free version scan and it found JS.Trojan.Downloader.IstBar.A in C:\Documents and Settings.…\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bwnbzvi2.default\Cache\3530E43Cd01
and moved it to the chest.(bit defender’s chest)
I would like to send it to alwil but don’t want to get infected with it again.I’m not sure about the e-mail.I think it was virus@avast.com.
Is there some way to send it directly from bitdefender’s chest to alwil
Hi Neron,
The email address is right.
Anyway, just place it from the bitdefender chest onto your desktop, unless you execute it yourself your fine, so put it in a Zip/encrypted file and send it off, then place it back in bitdefenders virus chest.

ok but i can’t do anything with the file. The only action is refresh add(to chest) delete and submit to bitdefender.
C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender Free Edition\Infected 3530E43Cd01
I guess that this is the infected file and if i’m right tell me and i’ll send it to alwil
I think I’m when you press send to bitdefender, it should open up your default mail client, so just change the email address to one of yours and send it to yourself, then download it and encrypt it, then send it to Alwin

Yes but i don’t have mail client.I mean that i don’t use programs like outlook or outlook express.I use yahoo.com.What If i send the file that i moved to chest. Here is a picture

if you somehow are able to attach the file that is in BitDefender’s Quarantine (it is likely to be encrypted, just like avast’s chest) and send it to avast they probably won’t be able to open it to analyse it.

if you restore it from quarantine so that it is not encrypted, then you can zip it up and password protect it, hopefully you can then attach it to yahoo’s email without any AV trying to examine it and send it to virus @ avast dot com
Hopefully that should overcome the fact you haven’t got pop3 email.
Ok thats fine but as you can see THERE IS NO RESTORE BUTTON. :-[ :-\
That’s why i can’t restore it. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
There might not be a restore button, how do they resolve a false positive, say that places a system file in the quarantine area.
There must be something or it is a huge flaw in the design. What is said in the documentation (or forums) about restoring a file in quarantine or words to that effect? Read up on what functions the other buttons do such as Delete and Submit.
This is the help file:
As you may notice, the Quarantine window contains a list of all the infected files that have been isolated so far. Every file has enclosed its name, size, date of its last modification and the quarantine directory. You may: add files, delete files, send files to the BitDefender lab.Add - in case you know or believe to have an infected file on your computer, you can isolate it in a quarantine directory. To do that click the Add button and select it from its location on the disk.
Delete - if you want to delete a file from the quarantine, you should select it first and then press the Delete button.
Refresh - if the management console is open at the Quarantine section and in the meantime, a file is moved to the quarantine folder (e.g. because you’re running a full scan at the same time), those files will be visible only after pressing the Refresh button.
Submit - you may send these files for a thorough analysis to the BitDefender lab. To do that just click the Submit button. A window will appear where you should specify some information in order to send these files.
I don’t see restore function
And even if i used E-mail client like outlook it’s not possible to send it to avast. After i click on submite this window will appear:
