Virus not detected

Hello

By scan my hard drive online, a file is infected by Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.bke.

When I look at the properties of the file : creation date 2005 december 21.
I’ve scan my entire hard drive recently, and no virus was found.

The virus database is uptodate.

Can you tell me why avast didn’t found something ?

Sincerely.

my first questions would be what file was actually found and where (full path).
The next questions i would ask is what online scanner detected it and has it been removed?

It seems to be Kaspersky’s name for something which is also detected by avast! as Win32:Small-OQ:

It may be sitting in an archive and you don’t have scan within archives enabled, perhaps?

Hi gtaillandier,

This trojan downloader comes with downloading skins from infected sites.
A downloader is a program that automatically downloads and runs and/or installs other software without the user’s knowledge or permission.

In addition to downloading and installing other software, it may download updated versions of it self.

A downloader may install itself in a manner that allows it to constantly check for updated files. For example, it may add an entry to the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To get the right icons you can download from this site: http://www.ikony.w.inds.pl/iconphile

Hi FreewheelinFrank

In avast options, avast scan inside zip files.

Strange. avast! should detect it! ???

I wanted to scan the file online, but because of the size ( more than 500 k) it was not possible.

I’ve told KAV to remove it.

Jotti and VirusTotal both accept files larger than that

Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
Or VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner

These benefit from being multi-engine scanners.

I’ve sent the infected file to virustotal.

I’m waiting the answer.
