Hello mouniernetwork,
I get a access forbidden there or the site or it is being updated right now. Can you list the undetected virus information for us here, if you still have saved the info on this site. I know the webmaster there is a geek, and he is not easily being disturbed, the site info mentioned by you is for the clamwin open source AV-scanner, catching the early bird here. You can use the clamwin scanner alongside avast, some of our member have it as a second opinion scanner. I did not know mijnheer van der Kooij was feeding clamwin with definitions from his own collection.

I tired accessing it. I hope it was not a problem.
I’ve copied and pasted the info that were on that page in a text file. It was quite long.
Thank you emy80,
Hopefully avast will look into this matter. I once contacted the webmaster, and maybe that is why I have the access denied.
Good you have found this.
polonus
Welcome. I hope I didn’t made him mad taking information from his site and posting them here. :-\
Hi emy80,
Well, I don’t think so, but he has live virus samples there, so he must be a bit cautious for the unaware.
Here is the validating info: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://viruspool.vanderkooij.org/index.cms
The man his this on his site:
All email send to me is bound to the rules described on my homepage.
hvdkooij(AT)vanderkooij(dot)org http://hvdkooij.xs4all.nl/
Don’t meddle in the affairs of sysadmins,
for they are subtle and quick to anger.

What do you mean by “he must be a bit cautious for the unaware”?
well…as I see it, maybe he really banned you from his site, but the fact that the site is public and that he is putting those info means that those info can be shared. I haven’t noticed a banner or warning saying those infos are not to be shared.
I don’t think the site would be a place for people to get infected. That would be really mean.
The fact he is giving so much informations can be useful for antiviru companies.

ok. you scared me. What did you do to make him mad? ??? I’m not going to visit the site. And i haven’t contacted him by e-mail
Hi emy80,
I did not say I was banned, I am a malware fighter not a malware peddler, he should like like us.
I just said his site was inavailable from here, I get the fedora maintanance outlay. e.g. test page, just like a webpage is maintained. Nothing more nothing less.
Maybe through a routering problems, recently we had it here for photobucket, later everything was back to normal. Those are just the hick-ups of net connectivity, maybe there from Italy access is OK. It could also be my ISP. Hope with the new URL system IPv6, everything will be better.
polonus
ok. I’m really sorry. Well…I hope those info will be useful for Avast! developers.
Thanks for the help.
I had no problem getting to the page.
But, could the below be right? Maybe I am confusing something? ???
avast v1.0.8 -- command-line virus scanner
Edited the above.
Hi CharleyO,
The man is only interested in linux viruses, not in the windows variants. So this could be a list of linux viruses mainly.
polonus
Here is the list of the Viruses.
Polonus I dob’t think he just want linux viruses.

Hi mouniernetwork,
Yep, you’re right. Hopefully avast soon looks into this. I would advize to download Clamwin, and install that to be at least protected against those. You get it here, my friend:
http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/122/1/
It is non-resident, so can run next to your avast solution. It has almost daily updates, sometimes even more.
Good luck,
polonus
hello. just to try I installed ClamWin. After installation it put a icon in the task bar. I removed it and did not granted access to this software at start up. Is it really a non real time protection antivirus?
It has been a month now I the results on the page are the same, has avast ordered the samples as he sugested ?? I mean there are quite a few antivirus vendors who are doing very good according to those stats,so should Avast.
MounierNetwork
I think that it was mentioned in another thread related to this that the avast product used in testing was ‘avastcmd v2.0.1’ and not the current windows avast 4 Home/Pro as this made the testing process easier.
I don’t know when or if he has tested again since the original test, if not obviously the results wouldn’t have changed, 88.5% and 100% of the in-the-wild samples. The http://www.viruspool.net/antivirus.cms page shows a last updated date of 2006-05-08
I have talked with the administraor and he told me that the tests were up to date ,however avast failed to detect the files because of its format, he also noted that Avast was working on the issue. This said he didn’t tell me if Avast had indeed ordered all the other samples that it is missing
