Vista 64bit-instaling AVAST stops any net browser

Vista 64bit-instaling AVAST stops any net browser
I have HP Pavilion dv5-1017nr with Vista 64 Home Premium (processor Centrino 2).It has already Vista on HDD with Norton anti-virus included ( trail version and it was activated from my side )
I already uninstall Norton before installing Avast Home Edition 4.8.1229 through Control panel, so after installing Avast, IE 7 stops working???It gets error that didn’t reach the site. I couldn’t even register AVAST because IE 7 can’t establish connection with the site.
I uninstall AVAST and everything was fine (IE works) so I’ve try few install/ uninstall but the problem still stands.
After it I try with another browser, Mozila and Crome, but they can’t establish connection even if AVAST is uninstalled.
Just to mass to be whole, SKYpe was working fine all the time without any problems from AVAST.
I’m linked to local lan-network so local network administrator didn’t find any problem with connection.
Please if anybody has any solution about it to write
Thanks a Lot

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow ashWebSv.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.

So I use standard Windows Defender and it has firewall (if I’m right).I didn’t install any another firewall
I check in tab “Exceptions” about ashWebSv.exe and I didn’t find any.I add it, and check it but no changes???
In the same window check for IE7 and IE 7 (64 bit) and Mozila are checked so it means that they can access net without problems.
Some another solutions???
Is there any port to be realized or…???
Thank’s anyway

Windows defender as far as I’m aware has no firewall function only anti-malware.

Norton can really be a pig to remove and this could be a contributing factor.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

The exceptions in the web shield should only be used for a specific problem and not connecting to the internet won’t be effected no matter how many exceptions are used, if it isn’t connecting the exception wouldn’t come into play.

OK’s.I’m on some meaning about Norton and already check in Add/remove programs about any particular software which has possible relations with Norton. In fact there is “HP one care solutions” who also manage network and security, and I’m very suspicioned that it still keep some parts of Norton or Norton adjustments .
I already make a game with it and didn’t resolve problem.I don’t want to unistall it because it manage tuning of diffrent parts of OS but …
Thanks for the link, but Remove Tools needs some kind of key so I’m waiting about it.
I will replay if it makes difference
Thank’s man

“HP one care solutions” has nothing to do with Norton
Use the tools posted by David even if you already used Control Panel to remove Norton.
