VPN "active", can not start though ..

Hi Guys,

Signed up for VPN with first 60 days free, am going to go the full year no problem.

Followed all processes, paid $0.00 by card, no problem, got activation code by email.

Click on the big red ‘X’ to turn it on, it flicks off immediately, and the second time the “Get Licence” screen opens again.

I click on “I have a licence”, confirm I am 'Active", and just recycle the whole process again.

Sometime back this year, I had a 30 day trial which I used up, it was so darn good that’s why I’m buying it now.

Hope you can help …

Mark.

You can only use a trial once. Since you already used a trial,
you’ll now need to actually purchase a license.

Hi Bob, thanks for your prompt reply.

It says I have 68 days trial (look at the picture above), is that voided by the earlier 30 day trial? I went Interstate for a few months if you’re wondering.

I really don’t mind paying for a licence, I just want to know that this is the actual issue, I don’t want to pay just to have the same problem?

It’s not giving me any messages at all indicating trial time is up, and even mentions it will start charging me in 2 months time.

Seems confusing, but if you’re sure “buy licence” is the answer, i shall proceed …

I’ve reported this to Avast and hope they’ll chime in and clarify.
I’m a long time user of the product but don’t work for Avast.

Great stuff Bob, appreciate your input

Ok, further:
I am logged in
I just tried clicking on “BUY NOW” and it goes to a screen, thinks for a moment, and just returns to the BUY NOW screen again. It seems to be considering that I am paid up?

If I de-activate my current licence, will that allow me to purchase without a 60 day trial, and how will that prevent the current credit card purchase from activating in 60 days time?

Hi, according to your email you’re located in China. See: https://www.avast.com/vpn-territory

Yes.

The connection on the earlier trial was actually brilliant for those 30 days, best I have ever had, I have been here for 15 years now, and am very familiar with the VPN struggles associated and accept them.

Now could someone from Avast answer my actual questions please that have been up for 24 hours after paying? I would like to proceed with the service, thanks.

  • Which OS and version…?
  • Which version of ASL…?

Win 7 64 and Google Chrome, the same ones as was working perfectly during the previous trial.

I have no idea what ASL means.

ASL = Avast SecureLine

It’s the latest download version.

I have never waited so long for Customer Service before from a major software brand, not impressed.

Hi pandabiz,

You have to realize that we are Avast users like you, trying to help other Avast users.
Bob has forwarded this but it is weekend, so maybe we will have to wait a little.

Greetz, Red.

This is most likely why you’re having a problem.

If it is, there isn’t much Avast can do about it.
You’ll need to wait for Avast to reply and that isn’t likely to happen till Monday morning.

Yup, much appreciated too, thank you.

Not berating you guys at all

I feel it’s an issue at my software end, the moment I touch the red ‘X’ slider to turn on the VPN, it instantly flicks back off and opens the ‘need a licence’ splash screen.

It’s not trying to find a server at all.

The trial earlier this year was brilliant, best VPN I have ever used, what bad timing that I went interstate for a bit otherwise I would have continued it then.

Thanks for your post.

meh, not important anymore.
