First I don’t work for Avast - Some sites actively try to block VPNs.
If the browser just doesn’t load the page it is most likely that the site is either blocking the VPN connection (not just Avast’s VPN but others too) or considers it somehow suspect and blocks it.
I don’t know if that site has content it doesn’t allow for other countries or a Bank which has security in place so it can confirm it is you.
I don’t use the Avast VPN, so I don’t know if there is a function the Avast VPN to add that URL to a list not to use the VPN.
