VPN Says I'm Offline, To Connect to Internet, But I'm Connected

I just renewed my subscription today, and after installation, It says “You’re offline, please connect to the internet to use your VPN”. I am, however, connected to the internet.

My settings are to Show Avast VPN Notifications, Automatically turn on when I’m connected to the internet, to ask me when it turns on, and also to exclude Trusted (private) networks (otherwise, it won’t auto-connect). I also have my network setting set as a private network. These settings have been this way for 2 years. I tried changing to a public network, but no good.

I’ve got a Toshiba 32-64 bit laptop running Windows 7.

Any ideas? I haven’t changed any other settings. Edit: I renewed AVAST Ultimate. Not just the VPN. Sorry.

Yes, I did a restart. Twice.

Well, it’s working this time. I restarted my machine again. Got the same “You’re not connected to the internet”. Tried again, and it worked. Hmmm.

This happened a couple of times last month (March, 2021) before I renewed my subscription. Anyone else have this problem?

Which version do you have installed? (Open Avast SecureLine VPN > Menu > About)

Happens to my Laptop and mobile also.
Help.
Reboot does not solve the problem.

Hi,

Please try the following in Avast SecureLine:
Menu>Settings>General>Startup - and untick “Start Avast VPN when my computer starts”
also Menu>Settings>Turn on the VPN - and untick “Automatically when connected to the internet”
On Android - Settings > CONNECTION RULES
Please also reboot your router.

Same issue here. I have read all the posts below regarding restarts unticking auto start vpn and even changed dns to 1.1.1.1 Once I disconnect the VPN I again can access the internet. I do not have this problem with PIA or PureVPN. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
