Both my computers updated this morning from version 423-0 to 423-1. It has been about four hours now and I have yet to see the links updated on the website under the download section or on the main page. I also recieved an email that said it was a standard update. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks again in advance.
This was brought up at least once before – quite a while ago, admittedly. I think it was Vlk who explained that in the process of setting up an update, top priority goes to uploading to the servers, etc., and updating the web page is the very last thing to get done.
Admittedly this can be a nuisance if you’re trying to use the links to do “manual-manual” updates, as opposed to being able to check using the program itself, but at least hopefully it explains the order in which things get done.
I understand what your saying and what VLK meant in that post you are referring to. But it was early this morning when my systems updated and I recieved an email saying it was a standard update.
Could an avast moderator or administrator respond to this inquiry. I understand the last thing that is done is the website is updated. But it wasn’t updated today after the update was issued. The main page still shows the following:
VPS: 0423-0 1.6.2004 as the latest virus database
Now on the download page under updates you see the following:
Incremental updates: iAVS is fast, small, incremental and fully automated update via Internet. Updates are released at least twice a week.
The latest iAVS update was published at: 1.6.2004, version: 0423-0
This was for avast! 4 VPS
Any and all help would be appreciated on this subject. Thanks for the help in advance.
It's radicalb21. I recieved an email update today from avast saying:
New iAVS update (VPS 423-1) for avast! program has been released recently.
Related information could be also found on our Internet sites.
Note: This is a standard update
What do you mean by “I see no difference after all”? Nothing on the website says anything about an update at all. But yet I have an email and my program saying I’m running version 423-1 and everything on the website shows as 423-0. I wish someone could explain this? Thanks again any and all help would be appreciated.
Sorry, I was talking about the ‘quoted’ text in my post (423-0 version).
I did not receive the email annoucing the 413-1 But my VPS is under this new version…
Maybe I even notice it…
I won’t be worried about the delay of updating the webpage… This was discussed before a lot of times. Pavel will be angry if we start again, won’t he? ;D
You’re wellcome… I hope Pavel will be happy with us… Updating the webpage is quite a ‘hard’ work and time consumming. Anyway, it’s good when we ask for ‘speed’ when we talk about updating 8)
Man, I notice know you’re a reseller! ;D
Congratulations to this honor 8)
I noticed another person started another thread about this same issue and has gotten a response from the alwil staff.
Igor wrote “You don’t have to worry about it.
The update of the web pages takes a while - so if you are fast enough, you may see the old info on the web while you already have the new update installed. After all, delivering the updates to the customers is the priority no. 1.”
I reported this problem reference the VPS FILE yesterday at the following time:
VPS UPDATE???
« on: June 02, 2004, 12:50:42 PM »
It is now JUNE 03, 2004 05:32:54 AM this is EST in the USA. Still as of the time specified the main page of the website shows that 423-0 on 1.6.2004 but there was an update yesterday and both my computers say I’m running 423-1. The problem also exhists on the download page under update as well and it also shows the most recent update of 423-0 on 1.6.2004 . I am an avast reseller and I want to keep my website up to date but when the update occurred yesterday nothing changed on the your website so I left mine alone because I didn’t know if the correct VPS FILE was available for download manually. I would appreciate a response from a forum moderator. Thanks for the help again.
Ah… I admit I was talking in general - I didn’t know the old info is still there. It certainly shouldn’t take that long (let’s say it can take one or two hours, but not a day).
It seems we are having some problems with the web server software… hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Thanks Igor for your quick response. I figured it was a little odd. Also if you click the date on the mainpage of the website to look at the VPS History there is also no mention of 423-1 the latest thing posted is 423-0 . That is just FYI. Hope this helps. Thanks again for the help.
