Let’s vote and if there’s enough votes maybe avast team will consider it …

Also you can vote for an idea on feedback.avast:

Cheers

Yes.

I miss the VPS notifications with the sounds.

If anyone has issues with it, they could disable the sounds/notifications. Plus it also gives a peace of mind that the PC is protected with the latest VPS version.

Exactly

Because I like Lyon’s spirit I will vote : Yes

Greetz, Red.

I voted No

Yes absolutely it was iconic.
Also for the reason and logic DavidR has put forward.
And if someone doesn’t want to hear it, The option was there to disable Voice announcement

If it doesn’t happen to be working - the first indication you get is when avast reports the VPS is out of date - a day late and a dollar short, as they say.

The way it was people had that very option to disable the auto update notification and voice over.

I still on occasion bump into that youtube clip of a wrestling match and the announcers PC piped up with the old 'Avast! - virus database has been updated - iconic, yes, different yes, sets avast apart from the crowd.

I really miss Joanna Rubio saying my “Avast ha sido actualizado”. Whoever did not like to hear this Avast feature, could easily turn it off. It was Avast trademark so bring it back and make it so again.

He, He, don’t you just love it ;D

Vote , vote , vote ;D

bump ;D

I think what you need is a catchy title if you want to attract voters. Like " I want my vps voice alert back; Vote ", or something for that effect. Just saying.

I voted Yes, the voice notifications for updates has always been a classic avast thing for years.

I don’t need an announcement to tell me that my Virus DB has been updated.

It would be nice however to have an announcement if something went wrong
and the streaming updates stopped working.

That was something I mentioned in one of the topics talking about the missing VPS update alerts. How long does it take Avast to alert you that it has not received streaming or VPS updates ?

Hi,

YES, for SURE !!

In addition, pls see my post - in Avast Free/Pro/Premier named "Avast advice, notification, pop up windows " from Mar 07, 2015 at 05:45:36 PM ( Text in attachment : Avast_notification.txt ).

Cheers.

Pat

A link to your post would have been easier.

My vote is an option not listed: Bring it back for people who want it, but make sure it is easy to disable for people who don’t.

I find it very annoying, but I respect those who love it.

As someone who will never use the voices for update notifications, I’m not thrilled that they would take up hard drive space, but, honestly Avast has become bloated, and I doubt the sound files would be very big compared to the rest of the bloat.

  1. when it was there like most avast settings there was an ability to disable it.

  2. Are you serious, the hard disk space taken up would be minuscule - I have an old .wav copy of just the virus_db_updated.wav and it is a whole 35KB.

As for bloat - as people have said many times, do a custom install and only check the features that you want.
