Does DRVB function in the latest free version of Avast or should I disable it? Thanks for the help. Peace!
Hi bigbobbysd welcome to the forum
More info: What is VRDB?
Yes it does work in avast! 4.8 home.
It is however obsolete technology, and will be dropped for version 5…I have simply disabled it.

Thanks for your response. I suppose I’ll keep it running (since you say it works in 4.8) and await the update to ver.5. Would you have any idea where VRDB stores its files so I can delete them later? Thanks again for your help.
By the way. VRDB. Wont be in the version 5 as you know.
But much more features will be awesome and amazing in the version 5 and its will be nice.

Mr.Agent
It isn’t a general back-up function and only stores data on system, executable files, etc. It doesn’t store files as such, just limited information about the file to help it attempt a repair.
So no files to delete only one integrity database file avast.int, which if deleted (would need to disable avast’s self-defence module) it would have to be recreated the next time the VRDB was run. That would not be advantageous, so not much point it it.
Given it won’t even be in avast 5 it is hardly worth worrying about; like Scott I too have disabled it in avast 4.8.1356.
Thanks for all the info. You all have been very helpful in replying to my post. I have disabled it now as well. Looking forward to ver. 5. Peace.
You’re welcome.
