Vundo-Gen 47 [Adw], Vundo-Gen 49 [Adw] and Virtumonde.O [Trj]. Help?

Hello.
I’ve been having difficulty lately with a few viruses and what-not. I’ve recently recieved a virus through MSN (carelessly opened a file sent by a friend) which I successfully managed to delete via Avast! Scheduled Boot Scan (I forget the name of the virus) and now, I’ve recieved two adaware files and a trojan - Vundo-Gen 47, Vundo-Gen 49 and Virtumonde.O: In the order stated.

Windows Defender picks up Virtumonde.O.
Avast! Picks up the Vundo-Gens.

Yep, a Vundo infection, and the reason is a very old and out of date version of Sun Java, which is vulnerable to infection.

You need to go to Strart>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and remove all versions of Sun Java.

Then download and install the latest version:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

(The offline installation works best for me.)

Scan for other out-of-date and insecure software using Secunia Software Inspector and update any vulnerable software: this will help to prevent future infections.

btw: at least the BHOs looking strange… i don’t know if the files are really missing or are only hidden by some rtk…

There are many hidden files that appear with the Vundo virus.

VundoFix found nothing.

Note, I’ve done a scheduled boot scan using Avast!. It found something to do with Vundo and it was deleted (temporary internet files folder). [Done approximately two days ago]

You still have the Vundo infection: obviously it must be a variant that VundoFix can’t handle.

AVG finds nothing.
Ad-Aware finds nothing.
Spybot finds nothing.
Haven’t tried SUPERAntiSpyware.

VirtumundoBeGone seems to have worked somewhat. I cannot tell at the moment without more warning from my system as of yet, but it seems to have removed two possible Virtumundos.

Did you make sure to run VirtumundoBeGone in Safe Mode as per the instructions on the page?

Please post another log so we can confirm Vundo is gone.

Ad-Aware is a bit of a resource-hog at the moment, taking up about 30MB memory in the background even when not running. You could uninstall it. The others are not a problem.
