[W2KPRO] BAD_POOL_CALLER...

Hi All,

what could this be…? I can’t get past this dump. The only thing I did was install, avast4, that I had previously un-installed for another, unrelated reason. I even tried Last Known Good Configuration. Disk Check stated that there was a problem with one of my firewall files and it had to be truncated, but, there wasn’t enough time to write it all down…thanx Microsft…The only other thing I did was chat online, via messenger, with somebody that I hadn’t chatted with for some time. It is quite strange that I’ve only been back using MSN Messenger this past 3-5dys and now all this has started, dumps that is. I used to get them a lot before, but theyhad dropped off completely, coincedently, with my drop off of using Messenger. Related, perhaps…? Can Messenger be spoofed easily…? I thought the only way someone could get yr IP through Messenger was if you shared a file with them, which I didn’t. The firewall, Kerio, file problem has me suspicious. Full Error details below.

If you can reproduce the problem, generate a minidump and send it to me. I can have a look at it…

To do this, use the System icon in the Control Panel, Advanced, Startup And Recovery.

k, I deleted the run entry for the virus scanner and then restarted, and now, after signing in, it goes to another dump, kernel or something, too quick, and then reboots by itself. lost.

You should have uninstalled it completely.

If you want to remove it manually, make sure to delete the aavmker4.sys and aswmon.sys files from the \windows\system32\drivers directory!

Hi All,

K, now I’m very, very suspicious, as after uninstalling Avast through Safe Mode the PC booted no problem, but, all my Kerio firewall rules were gone. Was back to the very basic/default rules. Could installing a virus scanner have this effect…? Cheers.

I don’t know. I believe it was not avast (it could hardly be). Maybe it got lost during the crashes (corrupted files partially written to the disk etc.)
