w7 64 bit AIS Script Shield

Which scripts exactly does script shield scan?

Script shield on my w7 system hasn’t scanned any items since September. I don’t use IE8 a lot, but I do use it occasionally.

Checking noscript on FF shows that the web pages I commonly use on IE8 (32bit - I know script shield doesn’t work with IE8 64bit) actually

load many scripts.

Anyone else noticed whether script shield is doing much with IE8 32bit on their w7 64bit systems?

Script shield scans all scripts. It’s just that there are compatibility issues when protected mode is enabled in IE. Not only does it scan scripts in IE, it also scans all scripts executed on your system.

First time i hear that conflict. Not sure that it is true.

It is true, if you have Pro/Suite, you can try it for yourself; disable protected mode and check the script shield traffic.

I dont got it but its first time i guess i hear this. Your sure it isnt another thing that does conflict ?

PS : Maybe looking the options of protected mode that its has protection for scripts to disable it and use the avast! script shield to see if its scan if u disable one of them.

Yes I’m sure. Before when I had this problem, they’d informed me that it was an issue with protected mode.

Thanks for the responses.

I tried disabling IE protected mode. It made no difference - still no scripts scanned.

The avast site says that Script Shield:

“Detects malicious scripts hidden in internet web pages and prevents them from running and hijacking or potentially causing damage to your computer (Internet Explorer only, 32-bit only).”, so I don’t expect it to work with FF, or IE64 bit, but it should with IE 32 bit.

I tried repair of the installation - no effect.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I thought that “Internet Explorer only, 32-bit only”, referred to the OS being 64 or 32bit, not the browser.

If if still doesn’t work after disabling protected mode then you need to do a complete uninstall and reinstall. This happened on my other computer and it worked after.

Well that could indeed be the explanation! - It would be kind if someone else with 64 bit w7 and AIS or Pro could check their script shield behaviour to confirm please?

(I did have some script shield activity on this machine back in September though).

Script shield has never done anything on my system (64) that I have witnessed. But I use IE rarely, so I am not the best example. Opening both IE 32 and 64bit and browsing right now, I see no activity on the script shield for either browser.

@Gargamel360
Thanks for checking.

@ImWarm
I’ll probably try a full reinstall when 5.1 comes out and see if anything changes.

Thanks to all.

So:
*Gargamel360 has never seen any script shield activity on his w7 64 bit system (and doesn’t expect to see any).

*I have had some script shield activity on my w7 64 bit system, but nothing for the last month or so, and nothing currently when using IE8 (32 bit or 64 bit).

Anyone else out there with w7 64bit who would like to let us know if they ever see any script shield activity, aand if so, when?

Many thanks.

I have w7/64 with IE8(32) and never see script shield scan anything. When I turn off protected mode script shield does scan scripts.

Thanks - now I have a better idea what it should do I just need to get mine to do it!

I just checked my AIS installed on my W7 64bit computer.

The script shield shows traffic on three occasions over the last nine days with the last showing at 6 PM pm Friday.

Over the last nine days, 25 total items scanned and zero infected.

Over the last month it shows 399 items scanned with zero infected.

If the Script Shield is showing scanned items even when Protected Mode is on, then it is scanning the scripts executed on your computer, and not in the Internet browser. So still does something.

Does anyone know if the Script Shield will work in the version 5.1 with others browser???
Curently i am using the chrome browser and Windows 7 64bit.

I have not heard anything suggesting it would. It would be a nice surprise, though.

But i would be great if it will work.
I pay for avast and for all the features. It´s not fair to pay for some security extras and can´t use ist.
