I want to restore my Android phone back to its factory setup. I know protections were put into Avast Mobile to prevent someone from doing this if it was stolen so I wanted to know what I need to do with Avast first before doing this. Should I just uninstall it totally and just reinstall once I reset the phone?
Hi,
if you just want to do a factory reset, rooted installation of avast! Anti-Theft should survive that no problem. You will have to reinstall avast! Mobile Security only. There is no need for uninstallation of anything if you do a factory reset only, flashing custom ROM might be a different issue.

Yes, just to avoid any issues it should most definitely be uninstalled first. Factory resetting could trigger the wipe function leaving you with a blank device and storage card. Don’t let anyone tell you different as this has happened to me a couple of times
hi kyleg. factory reset is not triggering any wipe function. the wipe function just uses factory reset to perform its task.
But that’s what a factory reset does - completely wipes the device to it’s factory state, like when you took it out of the box. It shouldn’t wipe the external, i.e., removable, SD card, though. If your phone only has an internal storage, like the most of today’s phones have, it’ll wipe it too.
The factory reset is triggered when avast detects system level changes. ive seen it, ive done it, ive reproduced it on the HTC Evo 4G LTE
avast does not detect any system level changes
its like talking to a brick wall
Who’s the brick wall ???
