WaveMax Sound Editor V4.5.1

I got this program via ‘Giveaway of the Day’ website. Had it a while now but just lately Avast! Free Antivirus (latest version & update) always recommends starting it in the Sandbox. VirusTotal result was only ClamAV & Norman claimed malware found.

Have scanned complete folder of the program with Avast! and several other ant-malware programs and none have found any problem.

Is it likely that Avast! Sandbox is being overcautious? :-\

Thank in advance for any replies.

welcome to the forum. could you post the virustotal scan of that file?

it sounds like a false threat of avast but we know for sure if we could have accecs to that scan.

The autosandbox needs to be overcautions to work
A virustotal link will help, but probably a false positive.
Giveaway is a safe software distributor.

Here’s the link to the VirusTotal report:

Autosandbox is not a detection.
File could be clean.
It is just suspicious.
If you think it’s clean, run it out of the sandbox until the giveaway works!

Norman confirms the file is clean

Falsepos case on file WaveMax.exe (ca37b5bbce06b5c9ee6ad73b9b279242) has been processed. FP confirmed!

Hi clock9 & Pondus,

This is a false positive on the way the open source software was packed, some av may flag it heuristically, make sure the software comes from the original author,

polonus

Glad it’s not infected as it’s a very useful and easy to use program.

Many thanks

Cheers,
