Everything has worked so far - can you advise what to do? (websites load, but when I just search, it gives the message)

As you have posted in the “General” section of the forum, can you say which Avast product do you have, and you think is causing that message?

Which web Browser?

Which Search engine?

Do you see the same when you use a different web browser and/or different search engine?
