tropic designs’ excellent little weather app was flagged a trojan this morning on 2 of my xp boxes. avast disabled them and i have since removed them for a clean install later. any ideas why this occured? i’m pretty sure tropic isn’t in the trojan business and my other xp boxes that run different anti-viral apps aren’t reporting any issues.
I use Weather Pulse, which at the present time does not “work” ; a visit to
their website says a “Bug Fix” was released Aug 18 :
"Aug 18th 2009
2.10 Build 13
Bug Fixes:
Emergency Fix for False positive from Virus scanners "
However, I uninstalled what I had; then downloaded the latest, which I
assumed included the “Emergency Fix”, but was unable to install it .
When I was looking for a weather program I ran across WeatherMate http://www.ravib.com/wm/
It comes with an installer but the files can be copied to a removable drive (I really like portable freeware) and then uninstall it. It uses info from the weather channel.
Hi,
weatherpulse-beta-2.10-build13 is clean.
My comment, screenshot and link to virustotal was to “Emergency Fix for False positive from Virus scanners”, that it is not false positive.
thanks milos. i’ve upgraded the app and all is well. meanwhile norton just flagged wp on a corporate box. i’ve updated that too. thanks everyone for your prompt attention.
