I have 2 browsers, Google (Android) and Firefox.
The Web Shield protects the default browser, which browser of the 2 are protected when browsing the web?
ALSO,
New Acer Icona with Honeycomb 3.2,
z4Root crashes every time I try to root, avast has found the install and the .apk I downloaded (DL’d from XDA) and flagged it as a Trojan.
How do I do a root if avast (possibly) is blocking it?
#@!&%!,so the next thing is to change the default browser to Firefox, I can’t find anything on XDA to do this, BUT, I have to do a command line to do root, still reading the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213014
Yes I want my browsing protected by the Web Shield, although, I want to use
Firefox not Google.
I hate adverts, and FF’s Adblock Plus is the only thing that makes browsing bearable.
Soooo, I have to figure out how to change the default browser from Google to Firefox, if possible?!
Not really. We don’t protect other browsers not because we chose so, but because it can’t be done on non-rooted devices due to the architecture of other browsers and limitations of the Android OS.
What you might do is still use FF but not its Adblock.
Instead, download AdFree from the market. It blocks ads all over, not just in the browser.
And so far works fine with Avast for me.
Hi, the Avast Web Shield protects Android Browser, Google Chrome, Amazon Silk, Boat Browser, Boat Browser mini and Dolphin browser. These are the only supported browsers at the moment, thanks for understanding.
Thank you so very, very much for the great news that the Avast Web Shield protects the Dolphin Browser! I’m so relieved to hear this as I need to use the Dolphin browser instead of Google Chrome as the syncing across devices is very buggy since the latest update to Marshmallow. I can’t get my desktop computer bookmarks to sync properly with my phone, and they sync perfectly with the Dolphin Browser.
I feel significantly more secure with my browsing now that I know I’m protected by AMS.
