I tried to test the web shield by downloading the eicar test file. I didn’t get any warning even after downloading it to my sdcard. I was notified only after a manual scan. removing it was also unstable. Any reasons for this behavior ??

Web Shield protects you again phishing sites, Eicar is not phishing. What do you mean by “removing it was also unstable”?

I mean that the phone went unresponsive while trying to get rid of it. i had to connect it to my pc and then remove it using avast free.
Didn’t came across this issue. What is your device and OS version?

OK. Did you choose to “resolve all” in the virus scanner log or did you click on the Eicar and chose to delete it?

please note
web shield only works with default browser not with other browser hence i recommend to use Opera or dolphin they have high security level
