web shield issues??

I have installed home version on dell lap top… I cant get on web without terminating web shield… also yahoo IM wont let me sign in… cant find connection… so i have uninstalled avast… but still no yahoo…problems with proxy settings, and i know not what to do about that… have reinstalled and uninstalled both but to no avail… any help is very much appreciated…

What Operating System are you using ?

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow ashWebSv.exe internet access ?

  • If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this will force the firewall to ask permission again.

It may not matter that your firewall isn’t running there are likely to be drivers/services still running and some firewalls block connection when disabled, so the question still remains.

Internet Options > Connections > LAN > Proxy server.
Most probably you’re not using one.

Can you login in Yahoo through your browser?

no to proxy server and yes i can log on to yahoo… just wont let me logon to yahoo chat… msn works… but needyahoo for school
