What is ‘Proxy’? An annonymizer application?
If so, step-by-step instructions on how to set up a proxy server:

Hope this helps… Welcome to forums.
Hi,
I mean if I’m using a Proxy (e.g. I use Tor+Privoxy) sometime to surf, the settings I’ve for this (localhost 8118) is different from the settings of Web Shield (localhost 12080) Transparent Proxy; so if I use Web Shield I’ve to remouve the setting for Privoxy to make WebShield working otherways I’ve to deactivate the WebShield…for using Privoxy.
I hope i’m clear in my explanation, my english is not so good…
I’m asking if ther’s a way to keep both somehow.
Bye
Baba
Baba, are you using XP? If so, just install both Privoxy and avast! WebShield.
Into avast! WebShield settings uncheck the option ‘Ignore local communication’ in the first ‘Basic’ tab.
Then enter the number for the redirected HTTP port, in your case, 8118.
Configure your browser to use a proxy (like if you do not have avast!). I mean:
Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings > Check ‘Use a proxy server’.
Firefox: Tools > Options > General > Connections Settings > UnCheck ‘Direct connection to the Internet’ and check the proxy.
Then, use:
Server: 127.0.0.1
or
localhost
and the port used by Privoxy, in your case, 8118.
It’s easy… 8)
Yes, I use XP Pro SP2 fully update and ZA Pro 6xxx.
No problem using WebShield + ZA Pro with privacy blocking on and settings for transparent proxy.
But Privoxy (along with Tor: http://tor.eff.org/index.html) is not working with WebShield even with the settings you suggest…
Thanks anyway.

What do you mean “not working” ? You can not access web pages or webshield is not scanning the communication?
What is your setup:
Hi all,
For FF I want to use proxy with IP : 10.1.2.1 and port 800, but for IE I want to use direct connection, how to setting up the avast web shield to scan both my FF and IE?
Thanks and regards,
Rex
Adding the numer 800 into the “Redirected HTTP ports” on the WebShield configuration page should do the trick in this case. So it should stand:
80,800
