Webrep not working in Chrome

I have just installed Avast free on my new computer and Webrep works on Firefox and IE, but not Google Chrome. It says it is installed for Chrome from within Avast, but doesn’t show up as an extension in Chrome itself. I’ve searched the forums, tried uninstalling the Chrome webrep utility from within Avast, tried reinstalling, and it hasn’t worked. In fact, everything I’ve tried hasn’t worked.

If it helps, I’m on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

U have a 64 bit pc…

try uninstaing webrep for chrome from the user interface.

go to control panel select avast

select uninstall

do a repair and then do a reboot

check the webrep in chrome is there or not and report back…

Nope, doesn’t work.

Well wait until other forum people posts…

Mine is working… Is it because I’m on 32 bits? ???

It’s working fine on 64bit here
(but oddly not if I run Chrome in the Avast Sandbox).

@pilot2fly, @Tech, what’s your Chrome version?
I heard WebRep isn’t loaded in 16.x version, can you confirm it?

I’m using the v16.
WebRep is working.

No problem on Windows 7 64bit for me.

Yes, I’m running version 16 of Chrome. Really don’t understand what is going on. Works fine on Firefox and IE.

There appears to be a work around till the problem is fixed:

That works. Thanks!

Your welcome but it was “joe_monster” who posted the tip.
I just tried it and was happy, like you, to discover how easy it was to fix
the installation problem.
