WebRep?

Hi there,

What exactly is webrep & which browsers does it support…does it support IE 8/9 & SRWare Iron?

Hoping to hear from you,

Regards!

Internet Explorer 8/9 and Firefox. Chrome and Opera are planned but not yet available.

Thanks RejZoR…should I install it or wait or will it get installed automatically on Chrome once released?

Its already available in avast! v6.0.1000 and will be for Chrome in March.

Thanks YoKenny for the posted link.

Hello;

Just wanna ask this because it seems the same…

Is Webrep like WOT…? How do they differ…? I have WOT (Chrome/FF)…is it redundant to have Webrep on?

Just asking…

WebRep will combine user community reputation for a given domain (already in place) with Avast’s viruslab information (to be implemented)

Is WebRep going to be for the webbrowser called Flock? Flock browser is on http://flock.com

Webrep does not block bad sites like WOT does with Red Ratings by default. Webrep is a statistical profile of data from Avast users and the virus labs as to how much the Avast community likes a site. Web-Rep is an optional install, and is easily removed from Avast if you don’t want it under Web Rep settings.

I am sure the Avast development team will continue to study and enhance WebRep as future updates are released. Avast users choose whether or not they want the plug in.

I think the way it works is if you are upgrading from Avast version 5, you are asked if you want Web Rep to be installed or not. If you uninstall Version 5, and are getting a fresh download or install, I believe you get Web Rep by default, where you can deactivate it under Web Rep settings if you don’t want it, OR do a custom install and uncheck Web Rep, if you don’t want it.

Because Flock 2.6 is based on Firefox 3.0,
https://extensions.flock.com/extensions Then it will be.

By the way, IE9 is much better than Firefox.

is webrep working now?
this morning, I’m sure I saw a yellow rating.
but at this moment, ratings on all sites (including avast itself) are grey — saying the site has no ratings.

Any idea when the viruslab info will be in place?

webutation for chrome is really good for right now

Says who?
Thats more a question of personal preference, isn’t it? I like FF 4 much more than IE 9.

I would say in a couple of months.
