I use avast ultimate version and mozilla explorer ultimate version
When avast resident protection is on, I cant use mozilla because I get the dialog box “Document contains no data”, navigation and browsing are impossible. Probably no connection
When I toggle off avast resident protection, the browsing function is enabled back on
I tested that several times. ???
To make it work properly, i have to switch off the “web protection” (probably webshield) which is a part of the resident protection.
I have the french version, so I dont know what the english translations are precisely
try editing your avast4.ini (c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\data\avast4.ini). Find the section [WebScanner] and edit or add the following line.

gringojak, I am sorry, but I think you have efectively just disabled webshield - it works, yes, but simply because webshield is not working (it is working but waiting for connection on port 587, which are “very rare” during regular browsing).
Today, we have re-tested McAffee firewall and WebShield compatibility in our lab, and it seemed that ignoring those process names I suggested and ofcourse granting ALL ACCESS to WebShield process (ashWebSv.exe) is sufficient.
