Website and URL scanner fails miserably..

Hi forum friends,

Tried this free service out: -http://www.quttera.com/ part of -http://www.quttera.com/services
Missed all suspicious and malcious URL I fed it. Is this a fake/rogue online scanner?
Some say it is 90% spyware. What about that?

Can’t get it to work. Could be because I have NoScript active.

They do state that it’s an alpha, Polonus.

And this:

What type of exploits Quttera engines capable to detect?

Quttera capable to detect JavaScript exploits found in HTML pages, malicious PDF files and exploits hidden in images and other media content

By this do they mean generic exploits?

Hi Donovansrb10,

They find nothing, no heuristics, nada. Read the comments at the bottom, especially by user Inspect2000 and Nastran there: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.quttera.com

A few interesting comments here: [urlhttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_scanning/does-mse-work-together-with-quttera/e7950431-515e-4fe4-8906-a280c2fa82d0]

MS seems to feel it’s safe and a Prevx clone. On the other hand, I saw postings on other sites that said it was flat out malware.

Hi forum friends,

As it has been discontinued, there is not much use for it,

Guys,
Thank you for trying Quttera investigation service available on our site and for feedback provided here on the forum.
First of all, we want to assure everyone, who is concerned, that Quttera is not a spyware or any kind of malware/ badware.
Secondly, our investigation engine(as it is stated on web site) is NOT designed to detect viruses,Trojans or worms like it is done by regular AV products.
Quttera investigation engine is a set of several execution emulation modules including: X86 emulator, JavaScript code interpreter and PDF reader emulator. The main use of it is to detect vulnerability exploits or shellcodes hidden inside legitimate web content like HTML pages, JavaScript scripts, images and binary documents.
Please visit http://quttera.com, enter any URL that you’d like to scan in the designated input box and press Submit button. In case our investigation engine detects something suspicious in at least one of the downloaded files you will receive detailed report containing description of identified threat and its type per each suspicious file.
