This issue has started today, there was no detection by avast. i got the blue screen because of my sound card driver failure and when the computer finished rebooting, the first thing that starts up is chrome (default web browser) showing me a page of hxxp://www.thenewspedia.com/index.php/components/women.
Besides that there have been other sites as well which i cant remember at the moment. My question is that if this is a virus (which im sure it is) why isn’t avast detecting it? Any quick solutions guys? ???
Sounds like your browser home page has been changed/hijacked.
Presumably that site isn’t one that you visit normally.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it and report the findings (it should product a log file).
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, On-Demand only in free version http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe, right click on the link and select Save As or Save File (As depending on your browser), save it to a location where you can find it easily later. - 2. SUPERantispyware On-Demand only in free version.
Don’t worry about reported tracking cookies they are a minor issue and not one of security, allow SAS to deal with them though. - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie.
Mal-Byte has completed scan, found 11 threats (have attached the log file).
SAS is currently running and has detected 28 threats out of which 7 are T.C
when SAS has finish and quarantined what it found, (and post the log)
you must run MBAM again,
when it is finish scaning you must click the button " remove selected " to quarantine the infections (and post the new log)
