Weekly problems with Avast not stopping malicious problems

I have submitted urgent requests for assistance two weeks ago and again this week…and have yet to hear a response to my inquiry.

I have Windows XP, have purchased the Avast internet Security.

Yet it appears something has hijacked the settings and overrides my ability to adjust the settings to quarantine or delete items when a scan is run. It defaults the settings to Take No action. This is on quick scan, full scan and boot scan.

I have no idea how to fix the problem. I submitted files, and then also ran malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials and the TSS Kaspersky. And I cannot turn off Avast and do not want to reboot and have rootkits harmed.

Short of purchasing another security system I am stuck.

I continuoulsy have problems with items getting through on a weekly basis and it takes 2-3 days of myself doing all kinds of things to remove items.

However, I did have a few occurances where Avast had been able to help. I do not understand why I have not even received a reply to my inquiries.

I would appreciate recommendations.

do you mean the apply button dont work after scan?

The actual settings in the Scan Now for quick scan and full scan and boot scan. In the take action section…will not allow me to change them. they only default to take no action if anything is found.

Plus the apply button does not work either.

It also keep “turning off” the scan PUP. And also turns off my schedule for scan.
