I’ve been trying Avast 5 since it’s released. I experienced strange things which I’m unsure it’s from Avast 5. Whenever I browse a lot webpages, I would be terribly visit pages from Googles’ like Google search and Youtube. No matter I switch different brands of browsers, those sites are loading terribly slow abnormally. I’ve an idea to switch back to Avast 4. This is the first problem.
The 2nd problem is that I now disable web filter from Avast 5, and I notice that the “avast! Mail Scanner” service is stopped rather than the “avast! Web Scanner” which are found from Windows service list, though the Web Shield is stopped obviously from Avast user interface.
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.

Having unchecked “enabled web scanning”, and rebooted the system, the “scan web (http) traffic” is shown unchecked when I load the Avast UI, and Web shield protection status is still RUNNING. Is it a problem to the status report that my system is still protected from web browsing? I’m unsure if Avast 5 is stable or not. It’s up-to-dated for sure since all definition and program of Avast are automatically updated.
