"We've opened your web browser for you to create a new account."

Except that no, you haven’t. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, safe mode reboots, system, restores, the works. I cannot sign in to the application. Every time I try to, it generates a popup with the following message:

We’ve opened your web browser for you to create a new account. When you’re done, we’ll bring you back here. If automatic sign-in fails, you can also enter the sign-in key from your browser.

Below that, there is a spinning/busy icon with the text “Waiting for you to create your account.”

The issue is that it is not opening a browser window. When I go to the avast page and sign into my account, there is no way to retrieve a sign-in key. When I follow the steps in FAQ, it directs me back to the app interface and begins the Groundhog Day loop all over again. I can’t sign in at all, and at this point I’d almost rather pay triple the price of premium here just for a service that is functional.

Hello Thomas E., described error could be caused by wrongly set default browser in windows. Could you please check it? If you need to activate Avast, you can use wallet key/license too, it is possible to do that from: Avast Menu → Enter Activation Code
