This guy from Symantec called David Halls, I think he’s just being a total son of a b***h. He’s like it’s dangerous to rely on free antivirus and goes on about it

I personally think he should be obliterated. Once he sees how well avast! Free Antivirus 5.0 is compared to Norton Antivirus 2010 he’d crawl away in a hole.
Well, that article is old, been discussed many times and not worth wasting your nerves on it. So, here’s what I think about their enteprise products and support instead.

Have a read of the Avast Blog article by Vince Steckler, the Avast CEO (used to be the CEO- or similar - of Symantec) about this very topic.
And here, at the end, Mr.Vince shows how Norton failed in Vince’s lab.

Just another biased article written by a biased (paid) employee of a biased company…
Aside from what has already been said above, if this is his argument, it won’t be enough to keep you safe without looking at independent reviews, etc. and see his paid for product is been kicked in the rear by a number of free AV options.
It is the same old common FUD that gets thrown up to scare users away from free products and the bottom line is money, as they aren’t getting any from those that choose a free option, there are some people that can’t afford to pay an annual subscription for all the security software, etc. they have.
To me is just reeks of desperation.
