if I disable the “ask for reboot when needed” feature under ‘update details’, will my computer automatically reboot after a update without notifying me?
or will it only remove the message saying that the computer needs to reboot, without automatically rebooting?
I think so! Below is an extract from avast! Help, Update (Basic)
“Ask for reboot when needed. Some updates may need a reboot to take effect. By checking this option you will set that the operating system restart will not happen automatically - a window will pop up asking whether you want to restart now or later.”
Hmmm… Is it this way? I thought it will be the opposite, I mean, if the option is not checked, the update will occur in next boot, i.e., avast will wait for the user to manual boot the computer. Maybe I’m wrong…
I’ve not tried unchecking it myself because I don’t want my PC to spontaneously reboot :o
My take on it is that it removes the ‘ask’ pop-up effectively giving implied permission to reboot when the an update that requires a reboot is complete. Not something I would like or recommend.
The wording of the help file is ‘if you check that option’ then the reboot won’t happen automatically (but pop-up the ask pop-up). This option is checked by default.
Well… seems that I’ll lose this… Probably I’m wrong…
