what does avast! do? what do all of the virus stoppers do?

I ran a complete (several hours) scan of my computer simultaneously with [1]Avast!, 2] Microsoft security essentials and 3]STOPzilla.
Avast came up with 1 bad piece of spyware. How did it through? MSE came up with 1 bad virus. Also, how did it get through?
STOPzilla came up with the following:
1 instance of WORM.LEAVE.BD
2 instances of INET2000
3 instances of VUNDO.AF
2 instances of SWREG
1 instance of MARKETSCORE
3 instances of IBIS.WEBSEARCH
1 instance of SPY DEVESTER
plus
cookies of ADDTHIS.com, GIGYA.com, MEDIADEGREES.com, QUANTSERVE.com and Tag.admeld.com

Also, the question is how did it get through STOPzilla.and…what does it mean? and…what do I need to keep my laptop clean? Is it all a con job?

Never run/install two AV as this can create all kinds of mysterious windows errors and false positive detections
and never run simultaneously scan

STOPzilla.com, Rogue software or not, you decide.

Never install two antivirus (see reply from quietman7)

so remove MSE and stopzilla and use avast! and Malwarebytes www.malwarebytes.org

Tracking cookies are not malware, and you can clean/empty the cookie folder with CCleaner

and no security program have 100% detection

+1

Especially STOPzilla!
