what exceptions should i add to windows firewall so avast can update?

hey all
im using win 7 firewall and i block all in/out connections.
tried adding ashUpd.exe, but no luck…
anyone knows what is the app/service that avast uses to update definitions?
avast version: 12.3.2280

thanks

Allow all communications from Avastsvc.exe.

For UI online updates, allow AvastUI.exe.

thanks for the reply
sadly it still wont update. is there anything else i might need to allow?

Never heard that WF would block Avast… ???

You really need to allow all avast executables or many of the features/functions won’t work correctly.
The major ones, AvastSvc.exe, avastui.exe, ashUpd.exe (Avast antivirus Updater), instup.exe (which I believe also deals with updates). Also AvastEmUpdate.exe the avast emergency updater.

You need to see that the OP has blocked all connections.

Well, that’s certainly a bad idea.
@OP: If you want Avast to work properly, you need to allow it to connect.

thanks for the help guys
i got it to update definitions with svc, instup and ashupd exes

You’re welcome.

If you haven’t included the avastui.exe executable as this does require internet access.
