OK they are in the flashcookies http://ivebeenmugged.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/11/scanscout-settles.html
TFC will clean all of those for you
Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
[*] Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
[*]It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
[*]Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
[*]Once it’s finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.
To permanently disable them http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/disable-third-party-local-shared.html
Thanks for the help!
I ran TFC, I’ll disable the flash cookies when I get a chance. Anything else I should do?
Also, just to make sure, Scanscout is a tracking cookie, all it does is violate my privacy, it doesn’t steal passwords or anything right?
No but it does send ads to wherever you are visiting that relate in some way to that site
OK, so now that it is gone there is not much to worry about
Anyways thanks for the help!
inplay-rc12.scanscout.com/streamreceiver/services
showed up a couple times when reading FiveThirtyEight on NYTimes.com. Spybot, Superantispyware, MBAM, and Avast are finding nothing (remember, this is just a clean blue spike).
I’ve run TFC, I’ve cleaned out Flash with CCleaner, even uninstalled and reinstalled it (and disabled flash cookies). I think this is just something about the site.
If it is only that site then yes it is a possibility, I just tried it but I am on IE10 with that type of thing blocked so I saw nothing
I saw one cookie from Scanscout in my Firefox cookies, I deleted it.
I’ve also set .scanscout.com/ in Avast’s block list. I am in the lab right now, I’ll report back tonight to see if I can still detecting it.
Ok lets see what happens
I have also faced this problem but you no need to much worry about thiis.
