The subject pretty much says it all a new image has appeared to replace what was the Simple Machines Logo.
However, it does nothing, if anyone were thinking of clicking it to reply to a post. If it is merely to replace the Simple Machines Logo, then we should use the old avast one from the previous SMF version of the forums.
Well I haven’t got a clue what is going on it is on every page, using the Babylon theme.
For a short time I didn’t see the Simple Machines Logo, but now this darn ugly Post a Reply image.
I have checked the other Themes and it isn’t in those, but it is (for me at least) with the Babylon Theme. Since only 8 members are using the Babylon theme most are unlikely to see it. However, OC’s image looks like Babylon theme, though it could be the forum default, weird.
Very weird, I don’t know what might have changed, I certainly haven’t changed any settings.
I tried the other themes and to be honest, I hate the lack of header information, enough to put up with the butt ugly image. One of the other disadvantages of the Babylon theme is the Member Map isn’t in the options so you don’t see the country flag (handy for time zone) in the user information to the left of the post if they have used the member map option.
It gets even weirder.
If I right click on the image and select, copy image location I get this http://forum.avast.com/Themes/babylon/images/smflogo.gif. I can add that to my download manager and download it and it is the SMF Logo.
If I right lick on the image and select, copy image and past it into an image editor, I get the butt ugly image.
IF I right click on the image and select, save image as, I get a file called smflogo.gif, but when I open it I get the butt ugly image.
Now I tried something else, used Maxthon instead of firefox 2.0.0.3 and would you believe it no butt ugly image, just the SMF Logo as it should be.
The only thing I have done with Firefox today is update the macromedia flash player, so I’m totally at a loss why that might have that effect ??? answers on a postcard.
The copper wire has no effect on the other two themes and zero effect when using maxthon not firefox 2.0.0.3 ;D So there are some real gremlins at work here as there is no consistency across themes or browsers.
I just spent ages flip flopping between themes and browsers trying to see what I could live the but ugly Post a Reply image in Babylon or the SMF logo and lack of header information. I love the layout and information of Babylon since there is a distinct lack of themes I guess I will have to live with the butt ugly image and hope it disappears as miraculously as it appeared.
I have found a work around for the butt ugly image, there was a blinding flash of light ‘bright idea’ and I have used the AdBlock Plus extension to block the forum.avast.com/Themes/babylon/images/smflogo.gif.
I hate giving up like this, I really don’t like mysteries but. life is to short and I have spent absolutely ages trying to fathom the unfathomable.
Believe me I tried everything, I spent hours on it. The major issue was the inconsistency where it only showed up in the Babylon theme and none of the others and only in firefox and not my other alternate browser maxthon. The Babylon theme in maxthon, no butt ugly image, go figure ??? That is why when I had the bright idea to block the image with adblock plus, I took it like a shot.
